What song(s) make(s) you smile? Part 1: A – G

Music is supposed to have an impact and depending on the mood I’m in different songs affect me differently so there really isn’t one song…

…also this is an alphabetical list from my iTunes library so there are more songs that I have probably missed, I will amend as I can…

Alchemy of Love – Berlin Symphonic Film Orchestra/Nina Hagen/Rick Jude

This song helped get me into watching Anime. I was flipping through cable and I caught the middle of the bridge of this song and it pulled me into an Anime Marathon on SciFi…

Almost – Bowling for Soup

I just have a soft spot for Bowling for Soup, they have bought in, but they still make some pretty peppy songs that are awesome when you really listen to the lyrics…

…Baby One More Time – Bowling for Soup

Back And Forth – The Bright Light Social Hour

This is a locale Austin band that been getting big in the last couple of years. I caught this song on the MeTV station down here when I still had cable…

The Bad Touch – The Bloodhound Gang

What can I say, that hasn’t already…?

The Ballad of Mona Lisa – Panic! At the Disco

This is just a really fun song and the video is amazing.

Bang! Bang! – The Knux

I first saw this, once again, on MeTV, I immediately bought the album on iTunes.

Bare Hands Bare Feet – The Bright Light Social Hour

…see above. This one I believe was recorded at the ACL Festival, a huge music festival I can never go to (too many people)…

Battlestar Galactica – Glen A. Larson & Stu Phillips

Only the greatest theme song ever record. Ever! EVER!

Bohemian Rhapsody – The Muppets

Actually, I like all versions of this song, I just used the Muppets because it’s a fun video.

Bring Me To Life – Evanescence

I know this got saddled with a dreadful comicbook movie, but the vocals are solid and the music is very well written…

The Cave – Mumford and Sons

This is not my favorite Mumford song, but it is the first alphabetically. Be prepared for a lot of this band on the list… not as much as BfS, but a lot…

Chelsea Dagger – The Fratellis

Another band that’s going to repeat, this video reminded me of the Mr. Bright-eyes video, except this band looks like it’s having fun…

CNR – “Weird Al” Yankovic

A pure Al Classic, Charles Nelson Reilly was a mighty, and part of the best episodes of X-Files and Millennium

Cows With Guns – Dana Lyons

I heard this 20 years ago on Dr. Demento and have stopped to listen to it every few months since, this video is a recent creation.

Cryin’ In the Rain – High Fidelity

I was searching for a song off the Movies sound track one day on iTunes and bought the off-broadway musical album. I was mad for about three seconds until the overture really started. Go buy this album… preferably on vinyl.

Daydream Believer – The Monkees

Nuff said.

Dear Deer – Kate Micucci

Kate Micucci writes awesome songs from a pretty effed up perspective and this isn’t her only song on this list, look in the “F’s”

Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

I’ll admit I hadn’t heard this song until it was included in Shaun of the Dead, but since then it has been a huge favorite.

The Dork Anthem – Dave and Brian

Funny or Die, is hit or miss, but their music videos always work. Buy every thing Dave and Brian write, you will not be disappointed…

Ever Fallen In Love – Buzzcocks

This is a song I had to learn from band in high school and could never let go, it’s fast and short and what Bubblegum was supposed to be in the 70’s.

Everyday – Buddy Holly

By far the best song I have ever heard, when ever I hear it I stop and listen.

Flathead – The Fratellis

More Fratellis, this one I first heard on Rock Band.

Forever Young – Rod Stewart

Guilty pleasure. And yes, I do feel guilty.

F**k You – Cee Lo Green

My sister played this song for me after she heard the clean version on the radio, we both have the explicit version on out phones.

F**k You – Garfunkel and Oates

I showed my sister this after watching the clean version on Scrubs, this is much better. And that is Kate Micucci.

Get It On – Klaus Weiss Orchestra

This is probably one of the best scat songs out there, and almost nobody has heard it, shame…

Gives You Hell – The All-American Rejects

This is another song I got from my sister, it’s a pretty good breakup song, and good song to listen to if you’ve had a bad day at work…

Greatest Day – Bowling For Soup

Another Bowling for Soup song, I can’t really explain why I like this one, I just do…

… well that’s A – G, a lot more to go…
